Ten years ago, people were sitting in front of the TV, of course it’s some kind of revolution that we now, instead of watching made-up stories, can be on the internet and find out everything we could ever imagine about our neighbours, friends and even people we only met once at a party. With the help of Facebook, MySpace and Google a hole new world opens up and with that, even new problems get birth. In the article “Facebook dumbing friendship down?” they are writing about how Facebook have changed the definition of  “friend”. On Facebook you can have for example 500 “friends” and the most of them are probably a friend to a friend to your best friend. They compare this situation with a pre-school class where everyone is friends just because of the fact that they are in the same class and they are supposed to have friends.

With web 2.0 there are a millions of possibilities, and also millions of disadvantages. While you are trying to figure out whether to accept a friend request, or trying to find out the latest about your “met once at a party-friend”, it’s easy to forget that there is a real world outside your computer. I can see a big problem with the fact that you can know almost everything about a person with the help of web 2.0 and when you meet this person you don’t even say hello! That makes me wonder if the future will be on the internet with our laptops in our knees, instead of meeting people in real life. There are also persons who are taking a big distance to the web, but still you can never know what people put out on the web, so in one way or another, it’s impossible not being a part of web 2.0, so welcome, whether you want it or not.

Copyright isn’t easy. Many people around the world want the copyright to disappear. They want to be able to use all the knowledge and culture in the world without paying and without caring about the laws. But is that such a great idea? Probably not, no one wants to work for free, and that’s what the producers and musicans should risk if the copyright didn’t exist. In the film “Good Copy Bad Copy” there is a man who has an idea of making people pay 50 dollars a year and then have access to everything. It sounds quite good, but it wouldn’t work because the business around music and films and so on, are too dependent on controlling the market, and with this; they would lose all their power and control.

There are millions of people all over the world using illegal downloading programs, instead of buying the film or the record they want. I found that quite strange, becuse people usally want to be honest and not break the law, but in this case it seems like no one cares about their illegal action unless they don’t get caught. John Buckman, Magnatune records, thinks that one reason to this could be that people are seeing the whole business as nasty and unserious with a bad reputation, so they refuse to feel bad about steeling from them. One other reason is probably the money. People don’t want to buy anything they could have for free, from illegal downloading sites.

 As it is now, I think that the copyright is way too aggressive. It has gone so far that the record-companies have started to sue their own fans and that can’t be a good sign, it isn’t the individual persons which shall be punished, it’s the true bad guys like the founders of illegal downloading-sites. I don’t think that the copyright should disappear, but I do think that the business around the copyright needs to fucus on the right stuff, not the individual persons. The film and music business needs to find a way to make people want to benefit the industry, not cheat on it.

The documentary is about how personal computers took over the world, and how nerds changed the world with their love of technology and a burning will to be able to impress their friends. The story goes from when the first computer kit 1975 Altair 8800 was released on the market, to the invention of Apple’s Macintosh, and later on to Windows and Internet.

In the film they are talking a lot about the competition between the founders of the big companies. The competition is probably one of the reasons that the technology development has kept moving forvard. The companies have been using eachothers inventions to create even better products and with that, the competition has been a conclusioned part of the technology development.

Despite the competiton, the PC wasn’t something that was supposed to bring money from the beginning. The nerds often started a company just because of the fact that they liked eachother and technology, and from that they made impossible things possible.Young, passionated, engaged persons that did something they loved. Ed Roberts, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, they all did it for fun and ended up as some of the most powerful people in the world. In this documentary, the nerds are the heroes.
